What is Walk and Talk Therapy?
Walk an Talk Therapy is a form of Ecotherapy that incorporates walking outside while discussing personal issues with your therapist, as you would in a regular therapy session. Depending on your preferences, your therapist may incorporate mindfulness or other ecotherapy techniques.

It’s a growing therapeutic field and will continue to develop over time.

Many people find walking helpful in processing a range of emotions. Please ask your therapist, or enquire with the clinic to see if Walk and Talk Therapy may be a fit for you.
What’s the first step?
Before beginning, you’ll need to do the following:
New clients must first have a 50-minute intake session with Nicole, either in-person or virtually. Current clients can begin immediately once the required documentation has been completed.
Ensure your health care professional has approved gentle walking as part of your movement regimen, especially if you have any underlying medical considerations.
Sign the required consent form and discuss the benefits and limitations of Walk and Talk Therapy with the therapist.
Where do Walk and Talk Therapy sessions take place?
All Walk and Talk Therapy sessions will begin and end at the clinic. Your therapist will meet you in the front waiting area of the clinic at the beginning of your scheduled session. She will have a predetermined route and ensure you are comfortable before leaving the clinic. Walk and Talk Therapy sessions will be available on select days and times.
What happens if the weather is bad?
If the forecast shows a high chance of inclement weather, the therapist or clinic may contact you before the session to rearrange plans; sessions would be moved to virtual or in-person, depending on your preference. You may also choose to rearrange plans due to weather or other circumstances. For cancellations, please be mindful of the clinic’s 24-hour cancellation policy.
What happens if we see someone I know (or who the therapist knows)?
Before beginning with Walk and Talk Therapy sessions, you and the therapist will come up with a plan for how to deal with seeing someone you (or they) know while out in public. Regardless of how you choose to introduce the therapist, they will maintain your confidentiality as their therapy client.
