Intra-Oral Massage for Jaw Tension (TMJ) On Dundas West, Toronto
Clenching, grinding and stress can leave your jaw sore, tight or clicking. Intra-oral massage with Cristina Ieraci, RMT, works on your jaw muscles from inside the mouth and outside, along with your neck, scalp and face. Sessions are 45 minutes.
Who it's for?
This treatment may suit you if you have:
Jaw pain, tightness or tiredness, especially in the morning
Clenching or grinding of your teeth (bruxism), during the day or at night
A jaw that clicks, feels stiff or is hard to open wide
Headaches that start in your jaw, temples or neck
Neck and face tension that builds up with stress
If your dentist or doctor has diagnosed a temporomandibular disorder (TMD), massage can be one part of your care alongside theirs. If you grind your teeth, see your dentist too as they can check for tooth wear and talk to you about a night guard.
What happens in a session
Health history and consent. Cristina asks about your symptoms, headaches and any recent dental work. She explains the inside-the-mouth work and asks for your consent before she starts. You can pause or stop at any time.
Outside work. Massage for the muscles that move and steady your head and jaw: the front and back of your neck, the base of your skull (suboccipitals), your scalp, your face and the platysma, a thin muscle across the front of your neck.
Inside the mouth. With gloved hands, Cristina works on your chewing muscles. Expect massage, active release (you slowly open or move your jaw while she holds gentle pressure) and gentle jaw mobilizations.

-
You may feel pressure or tenderness, especially where muscles are tight. Cristina checks in as she works and adjusts the pressure. You can ask her to pause or stop at any time.

No. Cristina asks for your consent before any inside-the-mouth work, and you can choose to have only the neck, scalp and face massage.
